Peace of mind for pet parents
Proof of concept for an app that ensures your pet will end up with trusted caregivers in the future.
The Challenge
How many people have a solid plan for their pets when they pass away or are no longer able to care for them? This was a question posed by The Animal Rescue Professionals Association (ARPA), and they wanted a solution to this common issue. Their goal is to keep pets out of the shelter system, and they came to me to build an estate planning app focused on just that.
The Work
We wanted an app that could be used by anyone. ARPA already had a step-by-step plan for this situation, called the MAAP blueprint — Make a plan, Appoint a caregiver, Address your pet's needs, and Publish your plan. As the user, you would complete each step, from entering your pet's info to submitting their care plan to the attorney handling your estate.
The Results
The MAAP app helps to create a legally binding document, and ensures your pets will end up with trusted caregivers in the future. When the project wrapped, we had a functional proof of concept that ARPA could send off to a dev team to make into a reality.
